Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of a Hollow Fiber Membrane Module for Binary Gas Mixture

The membrane gas separation process has gained significant attention using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique. This study considered CFD method to find concentration profiles in a hollow fiber (HFM) module separate binary mixture. was with thickness where each component’s mass fluxes could be obtained based on local partial pressures, solubility, diffusion, and membrane’s selectivity. COMSOL Multiphysics used solve numerical solution at corresponding operating conditions results were compared experimental data. two different mixtures, CO2/CH4 N2/O2, investigated obtain gradient flux of CO2 O2 species an axial direction. allows assessing feed pressure’s impact HFM system’s overall performance. These demonstrate that increment pressures decreased length indicates increasing active higher effective transfer region but dilutes permeate-side purities (46% 28%) (93% 73%). show inlet pressure resulted through membrane.
